Long-time community leader Gabriela Rodríguez has declared her candidacy for city council in Oxnard’s fourth district, announcing her decision on June 2, 2024. Rodríguez, who comes from a farm-working family, made the announcement to supporters during an event held at Oxnard’s Lions Park. She is the first candidate to seek the fourth district’s seat in this election cycle. Rodriguez’s campaign begins with key endorsements from County Supervisor Vianey Lopez and LiUNA Laborers Local 585, which both spoke at the announcement event.
“For over two decades, I’ve witnessed Gaby Rodriguez’s tireless dedication to serving our community,” remarked Vianey Lopez, who represents Oxnard on the Ventura County Board of Supervisors and previously served on the City of Oxnard’s City Council. “Having served in both city and county government, I know Gaby has the background and expertise to serve our community. I am pleased to endorse her candidacy and look forward to her leadership on our city council.”
With over two decades of public service experience, Rodríguez has dedicated her career to supporting the community. As Executive Director of Future Leaders of America, Inc., she spearheaded efforts to cultivate Ventura and Santa Barbara counties’ youth before transitioning to Oxnard College where she supports the community’s students as a grant director. A board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County, the Oxnard Police Chief’s Advisory Council, LUCHA, and other community-based organizations, Rodríguez has extensive volunteer experience throughout Oxnard and Ventura County. Also, a former member of SEIU, Rodríguez is a proud supporter of Ventura County’s local unions.

“My roots here in Oxnard have inspired my career and candidacy for city council,” shared Gabriela Rodríguez. “As the beneficiary of hardworking parents and our community, I have spent my career serving our working families and young people. Oxnard’s fourth district has been my home for nearly four decades; I am grateful to its hardworking residents and am eager to be their champion on the city council where I will advocate for our beloved community.”
This year’s election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. To learn more about Gabriela Rodríguez’s campaign for city council, visit http://www.rodriguezforoxnard.com.
