On Thursday, July 2, 2026 at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded with Emergency Medical Services to an injury traffic collision involving a pick-up truck and an e-Bike on Patterson Road at Oarfish Lane. Officers arrived and found an e-Bike lying in the intersection, and the rider lying nearby. The rider, a 30-year-old male resident of Oxnard, was suffering from major injuries. He was transported by EMS to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The driver of the 2020 Nissan Titan pick-up, Jesus Preciado, 36-year-old Oxnard resident, remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
Oxnard Police Traffic Investigators responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. Based on the initial investigation, Traffic Investigators believed the bicyclist was riding his e-Bike eastbound on Oarfish Lane. The bicyclist failed to stop for the stop sign at Patterson Road, and proceeded eastbound into the intersection. He was struck by Preciado, who had been driving southbound on Patterson Road. The bicyclist was ejected from his e-Bike. Preciado immediately pulled over and remained on scene.
Traffic Officers evaluated Preciado for signs of impairment. Officers determined Preciado had been drinking alcohol and was impaired. He was arrested for driving under influence.
