While officers were on scene, K9 Torque alerted them to the presence of narcotics.

One suspect is in custody after a Ventura Police Department K9 detects approximately a half-pound of methamphetamine in a vehicle.


On Monday, June 22, at approximately 10:45 am, the Ventura Police Department Communications Center received a call of suspicious circumstances involving a person in possession of a rifle in a black sedan in the 3100 block of Seaborg Ave in Ventura. Several officers arrived, including a K9 unit, and made a traffic stop on the vehicle involved.


The occupant was contacted and detained. While officers were on scene, K9 Torque alerted them to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately a half pound of methamphetamine, a large amount of cash, indicia of narcotic sales, and what was determined to be a pellet rifle.


At the conclusion of the investigation, Felipe Lara, a 47 year-old Port Hueneme resident, was booked into Ventura County Jail for 11378 HS – possession of methamphetamine for sales.
