The City of Oxnard celebrated the groundbreaking of the Endless Waves Skatepark at Del Sol Park.

“We are thrilled to break ground on the incredible new skatepark—a bold project that showcases our commitment to creating vibrant spaces where our youth, families, and entire community can come together to enjoy social and health benefits,” said Mayor Luis A. Mc Arthur. “The Endless Waves Skatepark will become a premier amenity for our community members throughout Ventura County and a proud symbol for the neighborhoods of La Colonia, Rose Park, and the City of Oxnard for generations to come.”

The Oxnard City Council approved allocating $4.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding toward the development of a new skatepark in La Colonia. On December 17, 2024, the City Council approved a contract with California Skateparks to design and build the project at Del Sol Park. California Skateparks, the firm behind the skateboarding competition courses for the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, designed Endless Waves to meet World Skate competition standards. The project has also been discussed with the World Skate Committee in Switzerland as part of ongoing conversations regarding Olympic-level skatepark standards.

Throughout the design process, the City worked closely with California Skateparks and the local skateboarding community to gather ideas and feedback through surveys and outreach events that guided the overall design and vision for the skatepark.

Endless Waves is designed to accommodate skaters of all ages and skill levels, and will feature flat areas for learning, street style obstacles, a bowl, accessible pathways, lighting, native and drought-tolerant landscaping, and the park utilizes and integrates to existing sustainable green infrastructure elements designed to manage stormwater runoff.

Construction will begin in June and is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2027.
