On Monday, February 9, 2026 at approximately 6:05 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded with Emergency Medical Services to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian near the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Bard Road.  Officers arrived and found a 33-year-old male, suffering from significant injuries, lying in the roadway near a 1984 Toyota pick-up.  The subject was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where has been listed in critical condition.  The driver of the Toyota pick-up fled the scene on foot prior to the officers arrival.

Based on the initial investigation, officers believe the Toyota pick-up was traveling westbound Pleasant Valley Road and struck the pedestrian, who had been crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.  The driver of the Toyota pick-up immediately fled the scene, leaving behind an adult passenger who was not injured.  It did not appear speed was a contributing factor to the collision.  It is unknown if impairment by alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors to this collision.
