
On Saturday morning, January 17th, at about 2:30 am Oxnard Police officers responded to a call of a traffic collision in the 100 block of North A St. near Magnolia Avenue, Officers arrived and observed a vehicle that had rear-ended a camping trailer parked on A street.
Officers contacted and removed the driver Laureliano Morales a 26 year-old-man from Oxnard, who was found sleeping at the wheel of his running vehicle. Morales exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and a DUI investigation was conducted. Morales was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Prior to towing Morales’s vehicle, Officers located an unregistered, loaded, Taurus, 9MM, semiautomatic handgun inside the vehicle. Records check identified Morales as being a restrained person in a gun violence restraining order and prohibited from owning firearms.
Morales was also charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and violating a court order.
