Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced that Augustine Rincon Medina a 55 years-old, Oxnard, was sentenced by Judge Ryan Wright to four consecutive life sentences plus 145 years in prison for a countywide shooting rampage Medina committed on October 24, 2011.
On November 6, 2020, a jury convicted Medina of four counts of premeditated, willful and deliberate attempt murder of two Oxnard police officers and two Sheriff’s deputies, and found true a special allegation that Medina personally and intentionally discharged a firearm. The jury also convicted Medina of five additional felonies, namely, felony evading an officer, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, unlawful firearm activity, as well as misdemeanor domestic battery.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Oxnard Police Department, and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Forensic Sciences Laboratory partnered together to thoroughly investigate and analyze evidence from five crime scenes.
