During the past couple months, the City of Oxnard has been experiencing an increase of mail and package thefts from residences in Oxnard. On 09/30/2026 and 10/01/2026, the Oxnard Police Department responded to homes regarding thefts and attempted thefts where specific, identifiable property had been stolen from their porch.
Officers from the Patrol Services Bureau, the Neighborhood Policing Team (NPT), and detectives from the Property Crimes Unit worked closely together with witnesses and the victims to identify a suspect vehicle and possible suspects.
On 10/01/2026, officers working in the Patrol Services Bureau and the Neighborhood Policing Team conducted a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle in the 1900 block of Socorro Way in Oxnard. During the investigation, property from a recent theft was recovered and later released to the owner.
Two occupants were identified as Samara Eaves and Janet Barajas. Eaves and Barajas were positively identified as suspects in a theft that occurred in Oxnard on 09/30/2026 in the Sea View Estates neighborhood. Eaves was additionally identified as a suspect in a theft that occurred on 09/30/2026 in the Rio Lindo Neighborhood. Eaves and Barajas were arrested for various theft charges and outstanding felony warrants.
