On Friday, September 25, 2026 at about 3:54 p.m., Oxnard Police Officers responded with Emergency Medical Services to a multi-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Doris Avenue. Officers arrived and discovered the crash involved eight vehicles, four of which had major damage. Two of the vehicles, a 1998 Toyota Avalon and 2005 Honda Civic, had drivers trapped inside. The drivers, ages 31 and 58, both male residents of Oxnard, were pronounced deceased on scene. Four other involved parties suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals. No other injuries were reported.
Oxnard Police Traffic Investigators responded to the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, Traffic Investigators believe David Mora, a 29-year-old male resident of Santa Paula was driving his 2018 GMC Sierra pick-up northbound on Victoria Avenue. Allegedly he ran a red light at Doris Avenue and collided with the Honda Civic and Toyota Avalon, both of which had been proceeding westbound through the intersection on a green light.
The force of the crash was substantial, and forced the Toyota Avalon north on Victoria Avenue and into a Southern California Edison pole on the center median. The pole became dislodged at the base and fell onto the Avalon. After striking the pole, the Avalon rolled forward and crashed into a Chevy Volt, which was southbound Victoria Avenue in the left turn lane at Doris Avenue. Meanwhile, the Honda Civic and GMC Sierra both went airborne, and came to a rest on the center median of Victoria Avenue. While in the air, the Honda Civic rolled over the side and roof of a Nissan Rogue, which had been stopped in the southbound left turn lane of Victoria Avenue at Doris Avenue. The Honda Civic and GMC Sierra became entangled as they landed on the median. As they came to a rest, they collided into a 2014 GMC Terrain which had been southbound in the left turn lane of Victoria Avenue at Doris Avenue. The force of that crash caused the Terrain to be pushed back into a 2010 Ford Fusion and 2025 Toyota Rav4, both of which were behind the Terrain.
A driver and passenger in the GMC Terrain complained of pain. The driver of the Nissan Rouge also had a complaint of pain. There were no injuries reported in the Chevy Volt, Ford Fusion, or Toyota Rav4.
Traffic Investigators believe that speed and impairment by alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
