Back for the second year in a row, the Apostille pop-up event returns to Ventura County with the addition of a new service, Domestic Partnership Registration

The Ventura County Clerk-Recorder is partnering with the California Office of the Secretary of State (SOS), to bring back the popular Apostille Pop-Up Shop to the Ventura County Government Center, on Thursday, September 10, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

SOS Pop-Up Shops are one-day events held throughout the year in counties across the state to provide customers with the convenience of accessing in-person Apostille services without traveling to SOS offices in Sacramento or Los Angeles.

“Apostille certification serves to authenticate documents for international use,” said Michelle Ascencion, Ventura County Clerk-Recorder. “The SOS began holding pop-up shop events in other counties a few years ago, and we held our first pop-up here last year. Due to positive feedback from the community we are happy to bring this service back to Ventura County.”

The California SOS is the only entity authorized to issue Apostille certifications for California. Documents that are commonly presented for Apostille certification to validate their legal authorizations include:

• Personal Records: Birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, divorce decrees, adoption papers, passport and driver’s license copies
• Education Records: Diplomas, transcripts, other school certificates
• Business Documents: Articles of incorporation, certificates of good standing, contracts, commercial invoices, company bylaws
• Legal Documents: Court orders, judgments, powers of attorney, warrants
• Other: Affidavits, medical certificates, travel consent letters, bank statements
