On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at approximately 6:14 pm, a concerned community member called the Ventura Police Department Communication Center to report a fight at the Bus Depot, near the restrooms, between two females.
Ventura Police Department Officers arrived on scene approximately three minutes after the call and detained both women.
During the investigation it was revealed that Desire Garcia approached the victim and forcefully took her cell phone. The victim confronted Garcia and an argument ensued.
During the argument, Garcia struck the victim in the face, causing injuries. The victim fell to the ground at which point Garcia took her makeshift cane and stuck her on the head causing additional injuries.
The stolen cell phone was located and returned to the victim, who was subsequently transported to Ventura County Medical Center to receive treatment for minor injuries related to the incident.
Garcia was booked at the Ventura County Jail for Robbery (211 PC), Assault with a Deadly Weapon (245(a)(1) PC), Possession of a Controlled Substance (11377(a) H&S), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (11364(a) H&S).
