On Monday, July 6, 2026, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded with Emergency Medical Services to an injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Victoria Avenue south of Teal Club Road.  Officers arrived and found a pedestrian lying in the northbound lanes of Victoria Avenue.  The pedestrian, a 28-year-old Oxnard resident, was suffering from significant injuries.  He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.  Officers learned two vehicles had struck the pedestrian.  Both drivers remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Oxnard Police Traffic Investigators responded to Victoria Avenue and conducted an investigation.  Based on the initial investigation, Traffic Investigators learned at least one 9-1-1 call was made at 4:43 a.m. regarding the same pedestrian walking in the roadway of Victoria Avenue.  Shortly after the call, the driver of the Honda Accord called 9-1-1 reporting that he had just struck the pedestrian.  Based on the investigation, the driver of the Accord had been traveling north on Victoria Avenue when he struck the pedestrian, just south of Teal Club Road.  The pedestrian likely sustained significant injuries, and was left lying in the roadway.  The driver of the second vehicle, a Ford Raptor also traveling northbound Victoria Avenue, was unable to avoid a collision with the pedestrian, and also struck him.

It does not appear speed or impairment by alcohol or drugs were contributing factors to this collision, however, the investigation is ongoing.
