On August 15, 2025, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department held a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint at Saviers Road and Coach C Lane. At the same time, additional officers conducted a city-wide DUI saturation. The operations resulted in four arrests for DUI, one arrest for driving while suspended for DUI, and 51 citations for various violations including driving while unlicensed.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
Funding for this checkpoint and DUI enforcement patrols was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
