Community Notification
Earlier this afternoon (Thursday, January 16, 2025) I received a text message reporting a concern that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was operating in the La Colonia Neighborhood in Oxnard. We have not been able to corroborate it at this point. As such, I thought this would be a good time to restate that regardless of which administration is in the White House, the Oxnard Police Department does not engage in immigration enforcement. I wanted you all to hear this directly from me, with the hopes that you pass this on, or are able to help address concerns that you may hear or encounter.
In the next few days, the Ventura County Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (VCLECC), which consists of local law enforcement leaders, will issue a collective, public statement about our position.
