The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced that Willis Nichols a 20-year-old of Oxnard, was ordered to stand trial for charges involving two separate shootings. Nichols has been charged with five felony counts including murder, for the shooting death of Adrian Sandoval.

The first alleged shooting was on December 24, 2021, when Nichols is accused of firing at a vehicle in a parking lot at The Collection Riverpark in Oxnard. Bullets struck one victim several times causing severe injury. Another person in the vehicle was narrowly missed.

The second alleged shooting occurred on March 12, 2022. Nichols is the accused gunman in the killing of Adrian Sandoval. The shooting happened at an abandoned Oxnard retail building. Mr. Sandoval died at the scene. Bullets struck at least two other partygoers causing significant injury.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Theresa Pollara, a member of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Homicide Unit, is prosecuting the case.

Nichols is scheduled for arraignment on October 4, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. He remains in custody without bail.
