On Thursday, April 14, at approximately 10 p.m., witnesses called in on a subject brandishing a firearm from a brown 2000 Chevy Suburban on the 1700 block of South Oxnard Blvd. The driver of the vehicle fired several rounds while in the vehicle in an unknown direction. Within approximately one minute from when 911 calls were received, the first patrol officer arrived on scene and stopped the vehicle.
The driver, Jesse Moore, a 29-year Sylmar resident, was cooperative with the officers and was safely removed from the vehicle. He was the sole occupant and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. He was positively identified for the alleged brandishing of a gun and negligent discharge of the firearm. There were no known injuries to any persons nor was there any damaged property located as a result of the negligent discharges. Moore was also found to have been driving under the influence, with alcohol levels nearly twice the legal limit of .08 percent. Moore was also arrested for various misdemeanor and felony weapon charges.
