On Friday, April 8, 2022, at approximately 11:07 a.m., Oxnard officers and EMS personnel responded to a call for service regarding a collision involving a semi-truck and a motorcyclist at the intersection of Hueneme Road and Arcturus Avenue.  When officers arrived at the scene of the incident, they discovered that a motorcyclist, identified as a 26-year-old male of Port Hueneme, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene of the collision.  The driver of the Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer, identified as a 49-year-old male of Bakersfield, was uninjured and cooperated with the investigation.

Based on the initial investigation, police said that allegedly it was determined that the semi-truck driver was traveling westbound on Hueneme Road and attempted a left turn onto Arcturus Avenue.  However, the motorcyclist, who was traveling eastbound on Hueneme Road, broadsided the semi-truck and trailer.  The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected off his motorcycle.  An investigation is ongoing regarding the cause of the collision and whether speed, drugs, and/or alcohol were involved.
