Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Alfredo Ortiz a 38 year-old of Oxnard, pled guilty to first-degree murder and admitted using a gun in the killing of Teresa Ortiz, also from Oxnard.
On January 5, 2017, Ortiz shot and killed his wife, Teresa, in the presence of six of their children ages 2 to 16. Ortiz then fled and was arrested the following day in Somis. The case was investigated by the Oxnard Police Department.
On Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Ventura County Superior Court, Ortiz was sentenced to 35 years to life in prison.
