Inlakech and Chris Hernandez Solutions LLC. have partnered up with the City of Oxnard and the City of Oxnard Police Department to create “Oxnard Peace Ride” a family event at Oxnard’s College Park to bring awareness to bicycle and road safety and gun violence among youth.  On November 20th, from 10am to 4pm, the public is invited to enjoy a fun-filled event that will include food, vendors, music, cultural activities and a bike ride throughout the park where riders will get a chance to show off their best bike moves in the “Stunt Lane”.

Chris Hernandez, the event organizer, is an active community member with a desire to make positive change in his community.  As a current Oxnard Parks and Recreation and Community Services Commissioner and the vice chair of the Five Points Neighborhood Council he has advocated for specific changes in road and bike safety in Oxnard.  He, in partnership with Inlakech, an Oxnard non-profit dedicated to music and culture, hope to unite community leaders, religious groups, city officials and the public to this event.  Oxnard’s youth face a number of hardships, but gun violence and bike safety are two topics that this event hopes brings to the forefront so that the community can unite to find solutions.  Local activist and partner, Jose Madrigal, said he was “so excited for this event to take place especially with high numbers of shootings lately in Oxnard, it’s our turn to shoot wisdom and knowledge to our youth.  Let’s reach our youth before the streets get a hold of them.”

The community is invited on Saturday, November 20th from 10am to 4pm at College Park, 3250 S. Rose Ave. Oxnard, CA to come and enjoy a fun-filled event, along with bike safety demonstrations, employment opportunities for youth, performances by Los Quetzales, Danza Flor Bonita, Juan D and John De Lasario, food, music and much more.
