Ventura County, District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Daisy Sampablo, 24 years, of Oxnard, pled guilty to felony auto insurance fraud.

On October 3, 2020, Sampablo was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her brother. After stopping at a red light, Sampablo’s brother drove at a high rate of speed, then lost control of the car striking a tree in the center median. The collision resulted in over $13,000 of damage to the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Sampablo falsely claimed to the Oxnard Police Department (OPD) and National General Insurance that she was the driver at the time of the collision. Subsequent investigation by OPD determined that Sampablo’s brother was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Sampablo is scheduled to be sentenced on June 25, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Sampablo faces up to five years in county jail.
