The Oxnard City Council will appoint a District 2 City Councilmember to serve a limited term that will end on November 2, 2021, the date of a special election that will be called for District 2 voters to choose a representative to complete Carmen Ramirez’s City Council term through 2022. Ramirez was sworn in as a Ventura County Supervisor on January 5, 2021.

Residents of District 2 who are interested in applying for the temporary appointment to fill the Council vacancy can download the application here. The only requirements are that an applicant must be a resident of District 2 and a registered voter. Applications are due to the Office of the City Clerk by January 20, 2021, by 6 p.m.

After the application period closes, the City Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, February 4, 2021. At this meeting the Council will conduct live public interviews with the applicants and vote on an appointment.
