


Judge Catherine M. Voelker took the bench Monday as Ventura County’s newest Superior Court Judge. She received her oath of office from Judge Ryan J. Wright.
Judge Voelker was elected to her position on March 3, 2020. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Vincent J. O’Neill, Jr., on January 3, 2021.
Prior to her election to the bench, Judge Voelker was a Senior District Attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting homicide, domestic violence, sexual assault and other cases since January 2005.
Judge Voelker was born and raised in Ventura County and comes from a farming family. She is a graduate of the McGeorge School of Law.
Judge Voelker will be hearing adult and juvenile traffic trials at the East County Courthouse in Simi Valley on Mondays and Tuesdays, and adult and juvenile traffic trials and low-level juvenile offenses at the Juvenile and Probate Courthouse in El Rio the remainder of the week. The date of her formal installation ceremony will be announced in the near future.
