District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced that Omar Alan Tapia, 28 year of Oxnard, pled guilty to the voluntary manslaughter of Jesus Pizano, also from Oxnard. Tapia also admitted personally using a knife in the attack.
On December 5, 2017, Tapia and Mr. Pizano got into an argument at an apartment complex in Oxnard shortly before midnight. The argument ended with Tapia stabbing Mr. Pizano multiple times with a knife. Mr. Pizano was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he died several days later. Tapia will be sentenced on January 8, 2021, he is expected to be sentenced to 18 years in state prison. He is being held without bail in the Ventura County Jail.
